Ingredients
All ingredients are well established in cosmetics and considered safe for use by the Cosmetic Ingredients Review (CIR) expert panel.
Water (Aqua)
Istrian lavender hydrolate (Lavandula x intermedia - histrica flower water)
What is hydrolate?
Hydrolate is a by-product of the production of essential oils. The majority of the composition is water (99.95%), and the rest is essential oil. The advantage of using hydrolate compared to essential oil is less allergenic potential and better stability of the cream.
Why lavender?
The use of lavender in cosmetics has been well established for centuries. Its main role in the cream is as a fragrance, but otherwise it also acts as an antioxidant, antimicrobial and antifungal agent, and as a natural preservative. Inhaling the aroma also has a calming effect.
Coconut oil (Cocos nucifera oil)
Coconut oil is an edible oil produced from the fruits of the coconut palm. Its use in cosmetics is well established and researched.
It has a mild antimicrobial and emollient effect on the skin (retains moisture), which moisturizes and softens the skin. It does not leave a greasy feeling after application.
Beeswax (Cera alba)
Beeswax is produced by honey bees to build honeycombs. It has been used in cosmetics for thousands of years.
It has an occlusive effect on the skin (it forms a protective layer that prevents water from evaporating), giving the skin softness and protection.
Jojoba wax (Simmondsia chinensis seed oil)
Jojoba wax is made from jojoba seeds.
It has an emollient (retains moisture) and anti-inflammatory effect on the skin, therefore it is suitable for care of inflamed and irritated skin. It does not leave a greasy feeling after application.
BTMS emulsifier (Behentrimonium methosulfate, Cetearyl alcohol)
BTMS is an emulsifier (combines the water and oil phases of the cream) obtained from rapeseed oil, consisting of a mixture of behemtrimonium methosulphate and cetearyl alcohol.
In addition to its emulsifying properties, it also acts as an emollient (retains moisture) on the skin, which moisturizes and softens the skin.
Glycerin
Glycerin is present in plant and animal fats. It is manufactured by degradation of fats or by fermenting sugars.
With its hygroscopic effect (it binds water from the environment and lower layers of the skin, so the water content in the surface layers increases), it moisturizes the skin, thereby preventing drying and flaking of the skin. Its use in cosmetics is well established and researched.
Tocopherol – vitamin E
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin whose main role is antioxidant activity.
In addition to its antioxidant effect, it helps retain moisture in the skin, making it soft and smooth, reduces the effects of UV rays, smoothens wrinkles, accelerates wound healing and eases inflammation.
Niacinamide – vitamin B3
Niacinamide/nicotinamide is a derivative of water-soluble vitamin B3 (nicotinic acid), which is more suitable for use in cosmetics than vitamin B3 itself.
It improves the appearance and structure of the skin, reduces the effects of UV rays, soothes sensitive and irritated skin, reduces inflammation in acne-prone skin, supports the natural protective function of the skin, reduces skin irregularities and reduces excessive sebum production, which reduces skin oiliness.
Panthenol – precursor of vitamin B5
Panthenol is a precursor of water-soluble vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), which is converted into vitamin B5 in the deeper layers of the skin.
It delivers moisture to the deeper layers of the skin, which softens the skin, accelerates the healing of skin damage, acts as an anti-inflammatory and restores the skin's elasticity.
Geogard ultra (Gluconolactone, Sodium benzoate)
Geogard ultra is a combination of gluconolactone and sodium benzoate, which acts as a preservative in the cream. It has Soil Associtaion and Ecocert certificates, which ensure that the product is natural and environmentally friendly.
Gluconolactone is an oxidized glucose derivative that, in addition to its role as a preservative, also moisturizes the skin, improves its texture and slows down aging.
Sodium benzoate is a natural substance found in fruits and vegetables. In addition to being used in cosmetics, it is also used as a preservative in food.
